How it works
SmartCoat™ describes its nano TiO₂ photocatalytic coating as light-activated. Once applied to a suitable surface, it is designed to support the decomposition of selected organic pollutants and improve environmental hygiene.
Performance depends on the selected product, substrate, application conditions, light exposure, maintenance and test method. Project-specific claims should be supported by the applicable technical data and independent test results.
SmartCoat technical information
SmartCoat™ is described by its manufacturer as a premium nano titanium dioxide, or nano TiO₂, photocatalytic coating. It is applied by trained professionals using electrostatic spraying and is designed to dry quickly on suitable surfaces.
When the coated surface is exposed to light, the photocatalyst is designed to activate an oxidative process. SmartCoat states that this process can help decompose selected organic pollutants, malodours and volatile organic compounds, while supporting a self-sanitising surface.
